Research Process
November 17, 2021
We are starting a project to restore the Hostynyi Dvir in Kyiv with the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy. Our research group will explore Kontraktova Square and Hostynyi Dvir, conduct a survey of Kyivans and residents of Podil, and analyze traffic and human flows. We will also hold a project seminar, where experts from various fields will improve a concept for the development of the Hostynyi Dvir.
Restorers, architects, urban planners, historians, cultural managers, the public, and members of parliament will gather at the seminar "Hostynyi Dvir: Focus of Attention — Vision." As a result of the workshop, they will develop a step-by-step roadmap for the restoration and development of the Hostynyi Dvir.
Based on the results of sociological research and examples of the development of similar buildings in other countries, the seminar participants will suggest what functions the building can be filled with.
Model of the modern Hostynyi Dvir
November 19, 2021
We conduct a survey of Kyiv residents about the Hostynyi Dvir. Please fill out this simple questionnaire for our understanding of your vision about attraction and its development. It will take 5 minutes, but it will be an important contribution to the attraction's future. We will use the survey results at a seminar to create a concept for the development of the Hostynyi Dvir, which we will organize with Ministry of Culture and Information Policy.
November 25 and 26, 2021
For two days, specialists in various fields created a concept for the development of the Hostynyi Dvir. First, there was a tour of the building, where the seminar participants personally inspected the condition of the attraction. Then we moved to the Sophia of Kyiv`s Bakery, where the seminar took place. The event was opened by Oleksandr Tkachenko — Minister of Culture and Information Policy. He joined online from a business trip.
At the beginning of the seminar, Deputy Minister of Culture — Kateryna Chuyeva delivered her introductory speech. Then the participants demonstrated. Inna Shuleshko told about the project of security documentation for the building. Anton Oliynyk talked about the project of reconstruction of Kontraktova Square. Vitaliy Selyk showed examples of reconstructions of similar buildings in other countries. Maksym Holovko and Anna Kyrychenko shared the results of the spatial study of Kontraktova Square and Hostynyi Dvir and a public opinion survey on the future function of the building.
Therefore, the participants were divided into four groups to discuss the following requests during the work:— possible functions of the building based on world analogs and the results of public opinion surveys;— possible schemes of building management after reconstruction and adaptation;— options for financing the restoration, its adaptation, and ideas for future use of the building;— plan of public and professional discussion of the restoration`s concept and adaptation of the Hostynyi Dvir;— a roadmap for the restoration and adaptation of the Hostynyi Dvir.
Subsequently, we will present the project seminar report, which will be a recommendation for the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy on further steps in the restoration and adaptation of the Hostynyi Dvir.
